Peace for the Long Term
This morning we woke up as many of you did to the devastating news about the mass shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is always difficult to know what to say in the face of senseless violence. We turn, therefore, to a very simple reminder of Sargent Shriver's: that each of us has a role in creating long-term peace. Whether it's mediating a family dispute, volunteering in our community, providing support to a friend in distress, listening attentively to an acquaintance who may hold a different belief than we do, or putting pressure on our political leaders to effect positive change, we all have the ability to make the world a more peaceful place. And it is from our daily actions that peace will grow.
Our hearts are with those suffering from the violence in Las Vegas and elsewhere. Our commitment to peace remains firm.
